Sam Stone

Sam Stone has been training in Nam-Pai-Chuan since 2000, and attained his first degree black belt in early 2005, under the guidance of Sifu Alberto Fox. He attained second degree black belt in December 2007. He's also a member of, and occasionally teaches at, the Cardiff University Nam-Pai-Chuan club. He started teaching at Plasnewydd Community Centre after founding the club in February 2006.

He has also trained for a short time at a Wushu school at the Shaolin temple in China, and in 2008 spent a week training in Malaysia in the traditional manner (twice a day, between two and three hours per session) under Sigung Quek Heng Choon, who is the Sifu (Master) of the founder of Nam Pai Chuan, Sifu Lai. He also attended a one-week course in London, again training under Sigung Quek Heng Choon. Sam has trained in entry-level gymnastics, and has also entered several running events, including the Cardiff Half Marathon and the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge. He currently works full time as a software engineer.

Karen Stone

Karen Stone has been training in Nam-Pai-Chuan since 2004, and attained her first degree black belt in March 2009, under the guidance of Sifu Alberto Fox. She currently works full time as a doctor, specialising in emergency medicine. She is occasionally available as a female-only self-defence instructor. Karen has trained at the Shaolin temple in China.

The club also has a number of advanced brown belt students (Nic Chown, Ben Andrews, Chris Andrews, Kate Davidson, Kevin James) who assist with teaching duties and sometimes take elements of the class.
